Anxious Exerciser Achieving Great Results!

When I first started going to see Steve I was completely 'gym-phobic' - I had been a member for a long while but really only dared to brave the swimming and occasionally get onto an exercise bike or cross-trainer. I used to watch people there with personal trainers and envy them the fact that they could push themselves so publicly although I knew that this was probably the only way to get results - but it certainly wasn't something I had the confidence for. So when I found out about Steve's one to one private training in his own studio this really was the answer to all my prayers and something I felt I should have a go at.

Immediately Steve put me at my ease and the initial consultation covered all sorts from motivations and fears to nutrition and lifestyle. I soon realised that he would develop an individual program of both exercise and diet tailored to my needs. This had been another great fear at the gym as, being asthmatic, I was very nervous of high impact cardiovascular exercises so most of the machines there used to petrify me. But a lot of what Steve has taught me are core, strength building exercises using weights, swiss ball and various other equipment - we even do a bit of boxing, which is great fun so my stamina is improving all of the time. These are also exercises that I can either do at home by myself, or when I now go to the gym I use their weights etc. The strength and fitness levels that I have built up have also meant that I am now able to use some of the machines that used to fill me with trepidation and use them effectively. Steve even got me out running one day, which I had never dreamt of doing but because he is with you and for you all the way I just thought why not - and actually quite enjoyed it!!

Steve works you very hard and I come away from an hours session feeling very tired in that I feel I have used every muscle in my body – but also completely energised and motivated to go home, keep exercising and eat healthily. I have lost inches since I started the training, I am sleeping better and my mood generally is calmer. I feel it is a time in the week completely devoted to me and working with Steve is amazing as he really seems to get the best out of you and you find your personal goals shifting as you improve and realize that getting into shape is achievable and fun. I actually look forward to training now and that' s something I never thought I would say - thanks Steve.

I lost 6 inches off my stomach in 12 weeks and NEVER felt hungry!

The idea of going to a personal trainer never entered my head. I went to the gym and thought that was quite sufficient. Personal trainers were for the rich and famous! How wrong I was!

I was persuaded to go for a session with Steve. I felt very self conscious and extremely apprehensive. I needn’t have been. Steve was great. He was very encouraging and made me see how I could properly utilise my time in the gym. He devised a programme for me that was within my capabilities and fitted into the time I had at the gym. As a result I have continued with the programme. Since the initial session I have gone back and he has adjusted the exercises by adding some new ones or making the initial exercises more challenging.

I came away from the first session feeling enthusiastic and motivated. If there were any questions Steve was always at the other end of the phone.

I dropped from a size 16 to a size 12 in ten weeks!

I have been working with Amanda once a week for 10 weeks now. She came to me as a referral from another client who experienced equally impressive results. The confidence I now feel in the gym, my weight loss and my renewed energy levels have resulted in a huge feeling of achievement. I found myself eating healthier without feeling like I was missing out!

I first thought of hiring a personal trainer when I got tired walking upstairs, having had a 3-year break from rugby I decided it was time to get fit again. My core strength and range of movement have improved considerably.

From Fat Father to Dishy Dad in 8 Weeks

I feel I have to share with you my elation at becoming a Dishy Dad at 40 just as I thought it was all over, thanks to the efforts of Steve Keywood I have been reincarnated as a young George Clooney.

I've always kept myself active and eaten what I believed to be a pretty healthy diet but I was 2-stone-overweight with an unsightly overhang and forever yo-yo-ing between 16 & 17 stone depending on my training.

I had recently been referred to a Sports Rehabilitation Clinic as exercise left me with prolonged bouts of excruciating back pain.

At this stage I was considering hanging up my rugby boots and accepting that I was destined to enter middle age overweight, unfit and unable to do anything about it.

This was until I was introduced to Steve Keywood. Steve's first action was to ask me where I wanted to get to and what were my goals and he then conducted a full assessment of my condition.

He looked at my exercise, which was regular but not exactly challenging or varied and then designed an exercise program that was more tailored to my goals.

For my diet he suggested a more structured approach to eating and recommended a specific Metabolic Typing diet that is more suited to my build.

Steve insisted that I make him a commitment to both the new exercise program and diet for 4 weeks. This I duly did, and from day one I found it relatively easy and the results were immediate.

From day 3 I started noticing a difference, I was feeling more motivated, happier and surprisingly lighter and more agile, all through this first 4 weeks Steve was on hand for advise and support.

My new found energy levels drove me to exercise 4 times a week, coming in from work and going for a 5Km run or the gym. So it was no surprise that at the end of the first month I had lost 18lbs and felt great.

Steve then asked me to commit to a second 4-week period, which after the success of the first month, I was more than happy to do and by this time my new regime had become second nature.

It is now 2 weeks after my 8 week program and I am a steady 15 stone 4lbs, having lost nearly 2 stone. I'm so much happier in my day-to-day life, more motivated and physically better balanced and do you know what I haven't had a problem with my back for weeks. In short I am a completely different person to 10 weeks ago, and in the middle of training for a 10Km charity race in October and the Rugby is now very much back on.

So I thought the least I could do to repay Steve's commitment to me is write a testimonial and hope it motivates someone else to take the plunge, and trust me you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.
